Biography

Charla Enns is a two-dimensional artist who paints representational images with controlled to impressionistic brushstrokes of nature. Oil, acrylic, charcoal, and pastel are her favorite mediums. She lives in Enid, Oklahoma with her husband and young daughter.

In 1996, Charla received her Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree from Phillips University, Enid, OK. While remaining in her hometown, she spread the joy of art by teaching middle school and high school for 27 years. During her time teaching, she remained passionate about making her own art. Her husband, John, and her share a ranch outside of the city. This ranch, in which Turkey Creek runs, often appears as the inspiration in Charla's paintings. She also enjoys finding nature's hidden areas of goodness to be part of that inspiration.

Besides being found here at charlaenns.com, she can also be found on Instagram as charlaenns and on Facebook as Charla Enns and Charla Enns Art.

Artist Statement

Our world is full of colors, lights, shapes, textures, and values. These elements are constantly changing with nature's movement and my movement. I'm always looking, searching, and watching until there...that's it...they've all come together in a moment so beautiful that I must paint it to somehow preserve it and share it. When I start my own creation, I dutifully paint exact values, colors, and shapes. It is not real though; it is just a story, and the brushstrokes are the evidence that this is art and it too is fleeting. These brushstrokes are so smooth in areas that one may believe they are looking at the real thing, but then these strokes blur and scumble and admit they are just a painting of the truth. It is a truth that reminds the viewer that life holds hidden goodness.
